Abstract
Hope is a multidimensional construct and can be defined variously as: A positive future orientation in which it is expected that the world will provide opportunities for health-giving, productive engagements that will result in personal growth and add to the common good. An energy that provides the motivation to meet one’s needs and to pursue meaningful goals in life. Hope involves the interaction between thinking, feeling, relating, and acting, and is focused on the fulfilment of personal purpose and meaning (Dufault and Martocchio 1985; Snyder 2000; Stephenson 1991).
