Abstract
Tourism and hospitality are at a critical turning point. The world faces converging challenges, from a rapidly changing climate to dwindling natural resources and widening social divides (Steffen et al., 2015). In response, sustainability has shifted from a niche concern to a defining imperative. It is no longer just an ideal, but a core principle shaping global policy, organisational strategy and public consciousness, powerfully articulated by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (Mishra et al., 2024; Pascual et al., 2023). This global imperative demands a fundamental rethinking of every industry, none more so than tourism and hospitality, one of the world's largest and most interconnected service ecosystems (Baloch et al., 2023).
