Abstract
A former Steiner school principal, she now teaches at the Byron Bay Steiner School. The modern university stands at the gateway of a range of futures. Four trends and emerging issues - globalism (the university as a business), multiculturalism (deep inclusiveness), visualization (the promise of the net) and politicization (the role of the violent state)-promise to transform its nature. New models of who teaches, who learns, what is taught and through what medium and which organizational structures are choices that remain to be made. Who will make them?
