Abstract
The establishment of a human genome and associated omics data has provided an essential resource to biological researchers. Since then, the fast progression of sequencing technologies has driven cost reductions, improved accessibility, technological progress and availability of supporting tools and resources, filling the living world of omics data. However, within the phylum Mollusca, there is still a paucity of omics data that may be explained by relative differences in economic importance. This PhD project aimed to generate omics resources for two molluscan species, which could facilitate better understanding of their molecular biology. They include the giant triton snail (Charonia tritonis), a gastropod, and the Silver-lipped pearl oyster (Pinctada maxima), a bivalve.
