Abstract
This thesis serves three major purposes: (1) to create new knowledge in the domain of international franchising research; (2) to assist future academic inquiry by providing a preliminary but comprehensive understanding of Australian food retail franchises' expansion in China; and (3) to serve Australian food retail franchises by providing applicable implications for their future success in China. Although both academic and industry research explicate the benefits associated with international franchising brands, currently, there is a lack of research into Australian food franchise expansion into the Chinese market. This PhD research aims to investigate critical factors influencing the success of Australian-based food retail franchises' expansion into the Chinese market.
