The University of the Sunshine Coast Herbarium houses a collection of plant specimens donated by the Queensland Forestry Research Institute, now housed in a purpose-built space within the Library.
The herbarium collection forms the basis for a regional reference collection of plants , the majority of which are endemic to Queensland. The herbarium consists of c.10,000 plant specimens and provides valuable historical records of plant distributions.
The University of the Sunshine Coast Virtual Herbarium is a complement to the existing physical herbarium, which is in the process of being digitised and uploaded to the Virtual Herbarium. Images consist of JPEG files, that can be downloaded in a number of formats.
