Abstract
This workshop provides an introduction to the interpretation of plain X-rays, CT scans, and Ultrasound scans. Participants will explore the principles, advantages, limitations, and clinical applications of each modality. Helping them develop a systematic approach to image interpretation. Topics covered include assessment of image quality, recognition of normal anatomy, and identification of common artefacts. Common pathological abnormalities are discussed for each modality. Emphasis is on integrating imaging findings with clinical assessment to support safe and effective patient care.
This workshop introduces participants to the interpretation of plain X-rays, ultrasound, and CT scans. It focuses on systemic image assessment, recognition of normal anatomy, common artefacts, and identification of clinically significant pathology. Key topics covered include chest, abdominal, neurological, and musculoskeletal imaging. With common findings like fractures, pneumonia, pleural effusion, bowel obstruction, appendicitis, and intracranial haemorrhage covered.
For NPs and APNs, these skills support combining diagnostic reasoning, and clinical decision-making, with interpretation and correlation with imaging findings to support diagnosis confirmation, patient care, and safe treatment of patient. Improving patient outcomes.
The session will be delivered through a combination of didactic teaching, case-based learning, annotated images, and guided interpretation exercises.
