Abstract
Students are distressed, student wellbeing services are overwhelmed, and the need for higher education academics to access trauma-informed training and tools has never been more urgent. This presentation showcases a trauma-informed matrix, which was developed as an easy-reference guide for trauma-informed teaching practices. The matrix combines five trauma-informed principles (safety; trustworthiness and transparency; collaboration, mutuality and peer support; empowerment, voice and choice; and cultural safety) and three elements of teaching and learning (course design, teaching and assessment), to produce a 15-cell matrix. Tutors, Course Coordinators, Program Coordinators, Discipline Leads, Associate Deans (Learning and Teaching) and Deans may use the matrix to map trauma-informed practices across a course, program, discipline or school and prepare UniSC students to be future ready.
