Abstract
While multicultural festivals have become a significant part of social life in a multicultural society and they offer a unique and valuable experience to its visitors, there are few studies published which focus on the role of multicultural festivals in a multicultural society. This paper aims to propose the key characteristics of multicultural festivals by drawing upon the literature from various sectors in order to conceptualize the role of multicultural festivals. The paper concludes that multicultural festivals play a significant role in multicultural societies for the development of successful multiculturalism.
