Abstract
This paper aims to explore the effect of existing health and wellness values on festival motivation with a field survey at Goomeri Pumpkin Festival in Australia. Festivals can have significant benefits to a community. Understanding the motivation to visit particular tourist destinations and/or festivals is important for building effective tourism marketing strategies. This study focused on establishing the relationship between health and wellness and festival attendees' motivation. A food festival is an appropriate place to achieve the aim of this research. Qualitative research was chosen with random sampling to collect the data. High levels of health and wellness values were found including social interaction, family togetherness, cultural exposure, novelty, natural environment, relaxation, previous food festival experience and food, and the findings can inform festival tourism marketing.
