This presentation explains the development and validation of a self-audit survey instrument that evaluates
preservice teachers’ (PST) competence and confidence to use technologies to support student learning. The
survey was administered to N=297 PSTs in EDU103 Teaching with Technology in a pre- and post-learning design. Using Rasch modelling techniques, construct validity was assessed for person and item fit for 100 survey items. Items were organised within 10 categories representing the construct "competence and confidence to use
technologies to support student learning". In the process of conducting the Rasch analysis, removal of 23 ill-fitting items improved the survey's construct validity.
