Abstract
A review of the basis of the ACN-PCN system in protecting airport pavements and the system's inability to protect asphalt surfaces from higher tyre pressures will be outlined in this presentation. Historical and future increases in aircraft wheel loads and tyre pressures as well as surface and sub-grade stress calculation showing the impact of increased tyre pressure will also be explored.
