Abstract
Simulation is rapidly becoming an essential strategy in health education. A wide variety of modalities are being used to assist students translate theoretical concepts into practice. While there is a growing body of literature describing the use of various approaches suggesting that active learning techniques such as simulation motivate and engage students, evidence questions whether exposure alone results in learning. This presentation provides a snapshot of the modalities in use in health education. It addresses simulation pedagogy highlighting issues related to design, the use of technologies and the importance of debriefing to assist students translate simulation experience into learning.
