Abstract

Other Education regional engagement Australian Universities
Across Australian Universities and elsewhere, the concept of university regional engagement has a number of connotations which sometimes leads to confusion. It is, in fact, made up of a number of components but its real success comes from an integration of those. Certainly, maximising the exposure of the University to key stakeholders is important but that probably undersells its value to researchers in providing exemplification and application of their work across a range of disciplines. Such research will clearly have positive direct and indirect impacts on the region. The theory and practice of how universities interface and engage remains remarkably unexplored. In this light, it represents in itself, an area worthy of further research, particularly for a university such as USC.
