Abstract

Chemical Engineering De Marco Group ARC funded research electrochemical sensing
The De Marco Group undertakes research into mechanistic studies of the behaviour of conventional polymeric ion sensors, as well as the development of innovative ion sensing technology platforms along with the application of polymeric ion sensors in the monitoring of nutrients in environmental waters. In this presentation, Professor De Marco will provide an overview of recent ARC funded research on the buried interfaces of polymeric ion sensors using cutting edge surface science techniques such synchrotron radiation-X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (SR-XPS), synchrotron radiation-infrared microscopy (SR-IRM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy-neutron reflectometry (EIS-NR), and he will also discuss CSIRO Collaboration Cluster supported research into the application of calibration-free coulometric polymeric ion sensors in the environmental monitoring of nutrients (i.e., nitrate and phosphate) in natural waters.
