Abstract
Eileen's research investigates the potential impact of electronic-based technologies upon printed narrative. Her enquiries reveal that innovative writing practices in both mediums are pushing readers and writers into new territory, providing authors of narrative with opportunities to stretch the boundaries of print in exciting and innovative ways. With the digital age in full flight, literacy practices are rapidly morphing. Printed texts can be written and read on a variety of multi-functional electronic devices, from personal computers (PC's), to e-readers and smartphones. As a result, narrative is becoming more machine-oriented, whereby authors and readers operate the text to co-construct meaning. These findings reflect the intention of Eileen's creative artefact, in which she strives to re-work various features inherent to electronic communication systems in ways that transgress boundaries traditionally associated with print media.
