Abstract

Psychology
Between 2003 and 2005, for her PhD research, Ann Moir-Bussy worked with graduates of western-based counsellor training programs in Hong Kong, exploring with them the process they used to reconceptualise the western theories learnt, and how they then adapted them for their own context. Key findings from the research will be presented, to stimulate a dialogical dialogue of topics such as indigenisation, globalisation and universalisation, and the affects these terms and movements may have on cultural approaches within counselling in very different contexts. This interactive session aims to be challenging and transformative for all, as we use our creativity and imagination; connecting across cultures; and celebrate the contributions we can bring to wellbeing around the world.
