Abstract
We change our voice depending on the environment, interactions, and personal safety, but what is our voice when we are by ourselves? Finding ways to elicit freer self-expression has the potential to enable self-reclamation. 'I Am, You Are, We Are the Oracle' is an intersectional investigation into the nuanced construction of women's voices in modern society.
This presentation will investigate the construction of metaphorical voice as a socially crafted resonant response and identify methods to enhance personal agency when engaging in playwriting. In a society rich with stimuli and laden with noise, finding one's voice amongst it all proves increasingly challenging. Can oracle cards be a tool to help women find a voice that resonates with themselves?
