WEEC Permanent Secretariat
2013
Abstract
Environmental art can be employed as a transformative tool, encouraging environmental education and a sense of place. Research is being conducted on Floating Land, a 10-day environmental art festival in Boreen Point, Australia. International artists and scientists merge into the community to share knowledge and skills through workshops, installations and performances. The research aims to understand the environmental education and sense of place engendered by the festival, and to make recommendations to social planners in the efficacy of environmental art as a transformative tool.
