Abstract
This showcase highlights the successful implementation of Zoom Polls and Padlet to engage students in online classes. Initially used in a large-scale first-year course, these approaches have been extended to second and third-year accounting subjects since 2020, receiving positive student feedback. The course coordinator utilises Zoom polls to connect with students at the start of each session, reinforcing previous concepts and transitioning to the current topic. Padlet is employed to encourage active participation, allowing students to contribute through text or recorded audio answers and accommodating those unable to attend live sessions. Breakout rooms facilitate student collaboration during tutorials. Padlet also serves as a pre-class warm-up, fostering student introductions before the course begins. Drawing from personal teaching experience, the presenter emphasises the importance of engaging students to enhance attendance and active participation. Educators are urged to employ diverse strategies and tools to enrich online learning experiences.
