Curriculum Design Principles at USC

Abstract
Quality curriculum is critical to students' experience and success at University so it needs to be intentionally designed and evidence based. Over the past couple of years, USC has engaged in a rigorous, evidence based and collaborative process to formalise four principles for curriculum design that have informed much of our design thinking for some years. These principles work for programs, courses, assessment - even blended learning. At USC, the curriculum is designed to be: learningcentred, standards based, constructively aligned and career and future focussed. These principles guide the development, renewal and accreditation of the University's curriculum. In this session, Kylie Readman, Director of the Centre for Support and Advancement of Learning and Teaching, will overview the principles, give some examples of existing practice and describe how these principles will work for future design of curriculum at USC.
