Abstract
Uncertainty Management Theory was used to examine social support in an online support community for caregivers of children with clubfoot. A content analysis of 775 posted messages suggests that caregivers receive and provide a wide range of social support particularly informational, emotional, and esteem. Seventy eight percent of the messages included at least one category of social support. Informational support was found to be negatively correlated with esteem support and positively correlated with emotional support.
