Abstract
The revelation that ChatGPT, a Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tool, could successfully complete examinations profoundly impacted the education sector. In response, the Australian Commonwealth Department of Education released the ""Australian Framework for Generative Artificial Intelligence in Schools,"" and state governments, including Queensland, issued policies to develop AI capabilities. These policies emphasize using GenAI to uphold academic integrity, recommending schools and universities ensure AI tools genuinely enhance student learning without compromising assessment integrity. This study raises the question of managing unsupervised assessments, highlighting the need to secure them by integrating GenAI. Integrating GenAI can enhance learning in education and various industries. This paper examines the assessment landscape through the lens of GenAI and critically analyses a key GenAI assessment framework, suggesting it offers a promising avenue for enhancing engineering education.
