Abstract
The Sustainability Research Centre (SRC) is one of three research concentrations at the University of the Sunshine Coast. The mission of the SRC is to contribute to the knowledge needed to transform society towards sustainability. The SRC has numerous current research projects relating to sustainability in areas such as climate change adaptation, coastal management, planning, natural and cultural heritage, education for sustainability, and sustainable tourism. The aim of this session is to present overviews of a selection of climate change related research being conducted by the SRC researchers. The focus of this talk is to provide an overview of the SRC and its relevance to society, as well as introducing the largest regional climate change adaptation study in Australia, which commenced at the beginning of 2009 in South East Queensland, and aims to build the capacity of industries, governments and communities to respond to climate change.
