Abstract

Nursing
Current literature on Atrial Fibrillation recommends patient-centred education using eHealth technology to improve patient outcomes. A literature review was undertaken to describe the content, mode of delivery, theoretical basis and effectiveness of educational interventions for patients with atrial fibrillation taking warfarin. Scopus, PubMed and Cinahl databases were searched 2009-2019 using the terms [Education] AND [Atrial Fibrillation] AND [Warfarin]. Of 584 papers, 13 studies were identified, 10 randomised clinical trials, one cohort study and two before and after intervention studies. Significant heterogeneity exists in educational intervention strategies. Studies are required to determine the relationship between eHealth education and clinical outcome measures.
