Enablers: Improved comprehension Facilitation of language development Independence in communication Inclusiveness and facilitation of learning across environments Barriers: Consistent and standardised training Allied health support such as speech pathology, occupational therapy Enablers: Education and training Multimodal approach Advocacy and acceptance Iconicity and accessibility Increase in communicative behaviours Barriers: Limited awareness and training Consistency in use and commitment Individual preferences and learning needs Expressive Communication Receptive Communication Facilitating generalisation of communication skills through consistent practice and implementation of interventions across different contexts and environments enhancing participation and independence. Integration of simultaneous sign and speech interventions with other therapeutic interventions and goals to improve inclusivity and accessibility for clients with communication challenges. Effective collaboration with families, caregivers, support staff, and other allied health practitioners is essential for optimising the success of simultaneous sign and speech interventions through modelling and consistent training. Ongoing training an professional development for allied health practitioners is necessary to enhance proficiency and ensuring effective utilisation of interventions.
