Abstract
The digital revolution in the global society has recently spread rapidly through the Internet. Digital information is available at light speed and constantly changes leading to increased stress levels. To ease the stress of daily life, an entertainment-oriented sensitive society, another mega-trend in the digital era, is in strong demand. The cultural entertainment industry (CEI) is gaining strong attention in Korea as a generator of growth and national wealth, that is, it is a 'new source of profit'. Cultural entertainment appeals to the emotions and is what consumers want and need in today's world. Understanding human psychology and promoting well-being represent facets of a cutting-edge industry; therefore, hi-tech products together with original cultural entertainment should be developed. The entertainment can appeal to various markets and be built through creativity based on traditional culture and liberal arts. This paper emphasizes that a key to the sustainable success of CEI in Korea is a profound understanding of the industry. It concludes with 1) the CEI should be developed with the uniqueness and intangible contents of traditional Korean entertainment philosophy, and 2) the basic structure of CEI consists of finding a new personnel with creative talents, and the efficient implementation of network in the industry.
