Abstract
Stormwater runoff from urban areas contains a variety of pollutants linked to the specific land use of the catchment. This study investigated the pollutant concentrations in runoff from several sites in South-east Queensland (SEQ), in Australia. The study also examined the nitrogen composition in the runoff to improve understanding of the nitrogen speciation process. The results to date have observed pollutant concentrations to be significantly lower than those published as "typical" for Australian conditions. The research also found the average proportion of NOx in runoff from lot-scale (< 4Ha) catchments is 16-20% lower, and the proportion of Org N is 9-22% greater than earlier studies.
