Practices of corporate social responsibility in large Brazilian industrial companies: An empirical study

Abstract
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a relevant topic for societies, businesses and science, due to the awareness of society about the scarcity of natural resources, to the wide consequences of environmental accidents and to the raise of consciousness about stakeholders' issues. The purpose of this paper is to assess the corporate social responsibility as practiced by large Brazilian industrial companies. To achieve this, secondary data collected from a technical Brazilian magazine, were used, to represent the behavior of large industrial firms related to the level of adoption of 12 CSR practices. From the results, it can be observed that some of the practices where implemented by more than 80% of the industries while others were implemented by less than 50% of then. Trends were also analyzed.
