Abstract
This paper presents the findings of research into climate change concerns and pro-environmental practices of households in two large urban regions of Australia. It builds on concerns regarding the ability of certain households, groups and communities to successfully adopt pro-environmental practices including the use of green technologies and other forms of action in the face of growing concerns about climate change and climatic and environmental hazards. Using a sample from a pilot survey from the regions of Deception Bay in Queensland and Mandurah in Western Australia the paper considers how household members view issues of climate change and the steps they have taken to introduce pro-environmental practices. The outcomes are considered in terms of several key elements of household's social and economic structure.
