Abstract
The Stormwater Industry's understanding of pollutant concentrations for various catchment types in Australia rests significantly on the seminal works undertaken by the CRC for Catchment Hydrology in the early 1990s. Selected studies were performed in Brisbane and Melbourne to import into the Model for Urban Stormwater Improvement Conceptualisation (MUSIC) modelling guidelines for these regions soon thereafter. Since then, several studies into the characterisation of stormwater pollutant concentrations in Australia have been undertaken. These studies have gathered information on lumped residential catchments, residential catchments incorporating Water Sensitive Urban Design principles, typical commercial catchments, road surfaces and medium density townhouse catchments. This paper compares some of these studies with current research on various catchment land use types and presents an update on potential inputs into the MUSIC pollutant generation formulae for Southeast Queensland.
