Abstract
Those with a passing familiarity of Queensland architecture will be cognisant of the prominent place that the “Queenslander” (or “timber-and-tin”) house takes in the state’s design canon. There is certainly no risk of its status being challenged in the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) exhibition “Home: A Suburban Obsession,” thanks largely to the foundational collection upon which “Home” was built: some 60,000 or more photographs taken in the 1960s and 70 s of suburban dwellings throughout south-east Queensland by husband-and-wife team Frank and Eunice Corley.
