Book Review: Plato's Republic: A Dialogue in Sixteen Chapters
Philosophy Today, Vol.64(1), pp.273-274

Abstract
Badiou posits that the subject's Self is neither one nor multiple, but is rather made up of successive "sets" His work spans decades and covers a variety of different subject matters, such as politics, poststructuralism, and ontology. With the diversity of subject matters, depth of analysis, and extensive academic history that Badiou has, there is an extensive amount of literature to engage with and it can be daunting to know where to start. The role that this book plays for scholars of Badiou, or for those looking to read his work, is the same as any scholarly translated version of Plato's Republic is for a student learning political philosophy: it is the starting place to understanding other texts, ideas, and trends.
