Abstract
The aim of this book is to help junior secondary school students understand what mathematics is really about, and where mathematical ideas have come from. It speaks to students directly in an engaging style, inviting them to try a range of mathematical activities and longer projects, either on their own or in class under a teacher’s supervision. The book’s author, Ronan Flatley, is a tertiary mathematics lecturer who regularly spends time in schools working with students and teachers, and his enthusiasm and passion for the subject are obvious and infectious.
