Abstract

This book explores women’s entrepreneurship in the Asian region, highlighting how governments worldwide, including those in Asia, have prioritised entrepreneurial economies as a key policy objective (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, 2023; OECD, 2017). Alongside fostering economic development, there has been a growing emphasis on achieving greater gender equality, which benefits countries, societies, communities and individuals. Entrepreneurship has increasingly been recognised as a powerful tool for improving livelihoods and enhancing life satisfaction (Nikolova, 2019; Wiklund et al., 2019). Our research demonstrates that entrepreneurship provides Asian women with increased economic empowerment, financial independence and enhanced self-efficacy, ultimately improving their overall quality of life.
