Abstract
At the end of 2019, devastating bushfires ravaged Australia, followed by the COVID-19 pandemic. These crises exacerbated a pre-existing unmet demand for accessible, affordable, responsive mental health services and underscored the fact that addressing the tension between overwhelming demand and inadequate service capacity would require new approaches to service provision. In response, The Bouverie Centre piloted an online, walk-in single-session family therapy service called Walk-in Together (WIT). In this chapter, WIT is situated within the single-session, walk-in, and telehealth literature, the delivery model described, pilot data presented, and outcomes and client feedback shared. Operational and clinical considerations are discussed, illustrated by examples of the work. The chapter concludes with a discussion about potential wider applications.
