My personal research story has tributaries that reach into the past, the future, and circle around me now. The bedrock of those is creativity, so when I discovered that art-led and practice-led research are ‘legitimate’, albeit ‘non-traditional’, methods of research, I knew then that the doors of research, in the context of academia, had opened for me. This chapter uses a phenomenological and contemplative art-led process, and the resulting artwork, to provide a compass for sharing my research experience, thus far. The artwork provides motif, dialogue, reflection, and reflexive text, to reveal an existential and relational journey of finding voice.
