The New Spiritual Paradigm as Facilitator of Social Change
Practical Spirituality and Human Development: Creative Experiments for Alternative Futures, pp.59-72
Palgrave Macmillan
2019
Abstract
This essay uses macrohistory as a powerful tool to facilitate understanding of patterns of social change. The perspective thus gained can illuminate the possible reasons behind present-day dilemmas, and indicate the emerging shape of our plausible collective futures. The essay analyses the spiritual memes and cultural capital of the Federation of Damanhur, Italy, as a template for creating social cohesion and sustainability. These memes define a new Western spiritual paradigm that is capable of facilitating social change at the local level, as well as inspire change of consciousness in the wider human family.
