Abstract
Asia's fast growing tourism industry with its variety of tourism markets has become a national economic growth engine. This report provides a compilation of case studies of a selected number of Asian countries. It describes how community tourism is developed in the region and how tourism can contribute to the development of local communities. It aims to improve the understanding of the complexity and the related factors of the situational elements which need to be taken into account for better policy guidance. This study attempts to share some experiences among Asian countries as well as regions elsewhere in the world. The book serves as a reference for graduates and university students. Furthermore it can be of considerable interest to policy makers and professionals working in community tourism
