Abstract
Reviews knowledge of the spatial and temporal heterogeneity of critical resources for plants (light and water) within and among habitats at La Selva, then discusses plant responses to light, including changes in leaf morphology, photosynthesis, and leaf carbon budgets. After reviewing water and nutrient relations, the authors move to the whole plant and describe studies of growth, biomass allocation, and architecture. -from Authors
