Abstract
This chapter aims to explore the ways Nepali social work can integrate the Sustainable Development Goal No. 5: Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls in Its Pedagogy. Nepali social work education, also offered at about 70 private colleges, has a history of about three decades. However, until now, Nepali social work education has neglected the historical-socio-cultural-politico struggles of Nepali women who perpetuate various inequalities against them. Given SDG 5 commitments to uplift and empower women and girls, it is necessary that Nepali social work think about this topic and furthermore invests on how it can be incorporated in its education. Since research on this topic is scarce in Nepal, this chapter will build ground-up knowledge by involving social work educators who will be asked to reflect and respond to SDG 5 and its adoption into Nepali social work education. Information thus collected from Nepali social work educators will be thematically analysed and presented as findings. This chapter may influence the dialogues and directions surrounding women and social work in Nepal, as well as the likeminded scholarships abroad that may utilise it in their own contexts.
