Abstract
The World Standards Day, conceived in the 1970s by the International Organization for Standardization, is celebrated on October 14 of each year. On this day, international organizations, whose focus is on developing professional standards within a range of contexts, celebrate their collaborative efforts. This preoccupation with the standardization of professions has, in more recent times, emerged as a driving force within the field of teaching, where standardization is being implemented through professional standards for teachers on a global scale. Teacher Education has been impacted by this standardization shift, which has caused not only philosophical divides around the role, type, and use of professional standards but also specific and distinctive hurdles for trainee teachers and Teacher Education in general.
