Abstract

Other Studies in Human Society youth futures
Generally, youth are considered immature, irresponsible toward the future, cliquish, impressionistic, and dangerous toward self and others. This, and other views concerning youth are examined in this work of comparative empirical research. Contributors from across wide ranges of discipline and culture offer views on young people's anticipation of the future and the role of education in shaping it. Among the topics are youth dissent, partnership education, decolonizing ways of learning and research, images of the future held by young Finns, Japanese youth in the post- bubble millennium, and rural visions of the future.
