Environmental Ethics and Philosophy
Edward Elgar Publishing Limited
2001
Abstract
Journal articles first published in the 1980s and 1990s, plus a few from the 1970s, define various facets of sustainable environmental management including risk, waste, and coastal management, rural and urban planing, and the ethical and philosophical dimensions of environmental management. Articles are arranged in sections on equality and justice, future generations, the moral considerability of the non-human world, environmental justice, economic valuation, and sustainability and nature. Some specific topics are the ethics of respect for nature, economic theory and environmental law, the monetary valuation of biodiversity, animal liberation, and sustainability and intergenerational justice. A newly commissioned overview provides a survey of the relevant literature. Original pagination of articles is retained. [Book Synopsis]
