Abstract
In an era marked by disruptive events, digital resources have become essential tools in mathematics education. In this chapter we explore the pivotal role of digital resources in fostering communication, collaboration, and mathematical engagement, from different perspectives, within mathematical contexts. Through an emphasis on the transformative potential of digital resources, we apply social learning theories to provide a critical examination of the affordances, constraints, and possibilities they present for collaborative learning and communication, offering new insights into effective practices for digital resource utilization. By exploring the interplay of cultural tools, social activity, and digital resources, the chapter reveals the developmental potential of digital resources in mathematics education to enhance mathematical understanding and practices. In doing so, we underscore the essential role of digital resources in nurturing the communication and collaboration skills necessary for addressing contemporary challenges and disruptive events.
