Abstract
This chapter provides an inquiry into the effective use of autoethnography to enhance a researcher’s self-efficacy, and to subsequently transform them into an effective researcher. I, as the researcher in this context, will explore and reflect on my teaching experiences and the self-efficacy developed to teach students with special needs, particularly those diagnosed with Autism. With an inquiry into my own self-efficacy, I became curious to learn about what the other teachers felt about their self-efficacy related to teaching students with Autism. This curiosity led has led me to explore the phenomenon more broadly within the context of a doctoral research program. The adherence to an autoethnographic inquiry is expected to enable other researchers to contribute to an educational researcher’s self-efficacy exploring their views and experiences, and further enrich their stories to be attractive to the other readers. This may further assist in shaping one’s self-efficacy beliefs in order to enhance the possibilities of implementing effective educational practices. The impetus to undertake this research was an important incident in my career development, leading to the researcher who I am today.
