Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic had major and rapid consequences for tourism, ending almost all activity and causing immense and somewhat unique problems for elephant tourism. This chapter provides an early review of the evolving situation in 2021. It looks at the effects of COVID-19 on international tourism and on elephant tourism camps and reservations in particular, as well as the implications for poaching of elephants, both in the wild and from conservation properties.
