For many students, getting to and from campus is a simple and straightforward task. However, for students who have relocated from regional and remote (RR) areas to study, or are making lengthy commutes from home, this can be a significant challenge, often involving the use of public transportation for the first time. Little is known about the impact of public transportation on the engagement and retention of RR students. To explore this issue, we interviewed 10 equity practitioners from three Australian universities to gain insight into the experiences and implications of public transportation for RR university students. The results of our research were recently published and revealed several interconnected themes.
