Abstract
Corymbia tessellaris is a species of eucalypt that grows up to 35 metres tall (Slee et. al., 2020). The species epithet tessellaris is Latin for tessellated , in reference to the patterning of the bark (Slee et. al., 2020). The species occurs commonly in open woodland and eucalypt forests, it is widespread in Northeastern Australia, extending into Papua New Guinea and islands in the Torres Strait (Slee et. al., 2020; pers. obs.). The genus Corymbia has a wide range of medicinal uses. Indigenous Australian s use the bark, gum, and leaves of the plant to treat dysentery, sexually transmitted infections, toothache, ringworm, and constipation (Turpinet al., 2022). C. tessellaris has been observed flowering from July through to January (Slee et. al., 2020). The mature leaves are arrangement in an alternate pattern, the leaves themselves are lanceolate to linear without serrated margins (Slee et. al., 2020).
