Abstract
AEF Investigation into the state and nature of Indonesian in Australian schools: Three reports on the state and nature of Indonesian, Japanese and Korean in Australian schools are being researched by teams of researchers for the Asia Education Foundation acting on behalf of DEEWR. These follow the report on Chinese in Australian schools by Jane Orton in 2008 which was so well received. The aim is to produce crisp, to-the-point, language specific reports with updated views from the teaching and educational administration professionals who implement Indonesian on a day-to-day basis in Australia's 24 educational jurisdictions. What is going on out there? Phillip Mahnken will present initial themes and impressions, the issues of debate and (anonymous) quotable quotes and thoughts for the way forward from our informants from around the nation.
